What is a Great Pumpkin Derby? This is a fun-filled creative race where handcrafted pumpkin cars compete in a side-by-side derby. Prizes are awarded for the top race cars and best designs.
Spectators and racers are invited to cheer on their favorite pumpkin cars, enjoy a hot dog lunch, yard games, face painting, a moon bounce, and more! The public is invited to attend this fun event – spectators and competitors welcome.

Great Pumpkin Derby Schedule:
- 11 AM – 11:30 AM – Pumpkin Racers check-in at the Judge’s Table. The Pumpkin Cars will be on display for pre-race viewing for spectators and judges.
- 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM – Hot Dog Lunch / Yard Games/ Face Paint / Fun
- 12:30 PM – Pumpkin Presentation – Races will begin immediately following the presentation. Awards will follow the final race.
Competitors are invited to create their own Pumpkin Derby Race Car to compete individually or as a team or family. All cars are judged and raced equally.

- Sportiest
- Best Workmanship
- Best Cartoon Character
- Best Movie Inspired
- Best Animal
- Wildest
- Most Original Design
Race Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for distance.
And, NEW THIS YEAR: a BONUS Award will be given for the best CHEATER pumpkin! We will have ONE Special Race for Cheaters… those who willfully violate rules #1, 2, 3 or 4 on the official rules. Only ONE Cheater will go home with a trophy!
Note: We ask that you avoid spooky/grotesque designs. We’re looking for kid-friendly fun designs.

What to Bring:
If you are a Westbrooke attendee, we ask that families with last names A-Q bring a side dish, and R-Z bring cookies to share. Our Community is invited to join us for a complimentary lunch and EVERYONE is welcome to participate in the race. Competitors, remember to bring your pumpkin race car for check-in from 11am-11:30am (pre-register below).
